An attempt to identify some key steps to take when designing the instrument. Image also shows the links between each step. This diagram does not currently include a suggestion towards including a vibrotactile feedback channel but it may have to be updated to do so in the future depending on the steps involved in that task. Updates may also have to be made to reflect the possible implementation of a double mapping layer. The diagram is in fact a revision of the original steps I followed in order to shape my ideas. This original diagram is shown below:

Although this form served me well for forming initial ideas I have had to update it to better represent the kind of thinking I am now using after having researched the topic further. In particular this diagram suggests starting with a synthesis algorithm and using the available parameters to craft the controller. In fact for my project I think it would be better to start with a controller design and a synthesis algorithm and find a good mapping between the two (perhaps including layers) thereby meeting in the middle as it were.
